BEST SELLING CARDS

THE PROCESS

Ideas

The idea phase involves listening to Irish music, watching Irish films, reading Irish books and most importantly listening to everyday conversations for any unique colloquial language, phrases or expressions.

Irish Greeting Cards. Matthew's Greeting Cards are designed and printed in Dublin, Ireland.

sketching

I keep a sketchbook where I can loosely mock up layouts and explore colour. It’s an organised brain dump where ideas begin to take shape before I commit to illustrating them.

Illustrating

It's when I take the card into Illustrator that the card really comes to life. The beauty of this part of the process is things can change, move around or be shelved for another time. No created vector is ever wasted and will wind up being used at some stage.

WHy?

I love language, art and storytelling and believe we have a wealth of beautiful, funny and unique traditions in Ireland. I'm passionate about keeping the vernacular and sayings of Ireland alive by capturing them in my Irish greeting cards

WHERE?

The entire process takes place in Dublin, Ireland. I carefully plan, sketch and illustrate my designs with precision before having them printed in Stoneybatter; with the envelopes and packaging sourced from a company in Cabra.

SUSTAINABILITY

All cards are printed on paper sourced from sustainably managed forests. Each one comes with a recycled kraft fleck envelope and is safely stored in biodegradable cello packaging.

Irish Greeting Cards include cards celebrating Irish themes, culture, and identity. Cards as Gaeilge are written in the Irish language and can be found in their own dedicated category.
